ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIESThe Boatswains Mate (BM) has a rich history of honored traditions.
As a BM, you will supervise themaintenance of your ship inside and out, in addition to a diverse roster of other
Responsibilities:
Standing watch as lookout or Boatswain Mate of the WatchRepairing, maintaining and stowing equipmentTraining, directing and supervising ships maintenance personnelAssisting as a search and rescue swimmerOperating sound-powered communication equipmentServing as a member of damage control, emergency and security alert teamsParticipating in Navy ceremoniesTransferring supplies between ships while at seaOperating small boats, tugs, barges and other small craftAssisting with flight deck and amphibious operationsServing as flight deck crew during helicopter operationsSupervising deck crew in cleaning, painting and maintaining the shipDirecting boat crews in landing and rescue operationsTeaching seamanshipPAY & BENEFITSWhen you serve your country, you become a part of something truly important and you deserve to berewarded accordingly.

WORK ENVIRONMENTServing part-time as a Navy Reserve Sailor, your duties will be carried out during your scheduled drilling and training periods.
During monthly drilling, Sailors in the Navy Reserve typically work at a location close to their homes.

17 years or olderLegally authorized to work in the United StatesAt least high school diploma or equivalent or higher Recommended Skills Damage Control Maintenance Medical Emergency Painting Teaching Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
